About the line
A phone number and a website that put you in touch with an independent air-conditioning contractor on your side of the bay, in English or Spanish.
What we are
Tampa Bay Cooling Line is a referral service. When you call the number on this site or send the request form, we pass your information to an independent local air-conditioning contractor who serves your part of Hillsborough or Pinellas. A phone call connects you to them directly; the form gets you a call back. They diagnose the system and quote the work. From that point on, you deal directly with them.
We built this because the AC decision in Tampa Bay got more complicated than it used to be: a new refrigerant, a new efficiency scale, a federal credit that ended, two utilities with different rebate rules, six permit offices, and on the Pinellas coast a flood rule most homeowners met for the first time after Helene. The line exists to put a homeowner in front of an independent local contractor with the rules already laid out.
What we are not
We are not an air-conditioning contractor and we do not employ technicians. We do not perform or supervise work, set or quote prices, pull permits, handle refrigerant, collect payment, or provide a warranty. The contractor is responsible for their license, insurance, permits, workmanship, and warranty. We do not give insurance, tax, or legal advice; the rules described on this site are summarized from public sources with links, and the utility and the permit office have the final word.
How the contractors are chosen
Contractors who receive calls from this line work in Hillsborough or Pinellas, take on residential air conditioning, and serve Spanish-speaking homeowners as well as English-speaking ones. We do not verify licenses or insurance on your behalf; you should. Air conditioning is a state-licensed trade: ask the contractor for their Florida license number (a certified air-conditioning contractor's begins with CAC; a registered one, valid only locally, with RA; mechanical contractors are CMC or RM) and check it on the DBPR site at MyFloridaLicense.com. In Pinellas a contractor may also hold a county license through the PCCLB; state-certified contractors do not need one. Refrigerant may only be handled by an EPA Section 608-certified technician.
Your information
The information you give us goes to the contractor who takes your request, to any routing network that delivers it to them, and to the systems we use to route and record calls and messages; that contractor or network may pay us a referral fee.
